Tips and Tricks
Where should I meet up with my friends?
The best spot to start your Dropped day is whatever you need most. Need to kickstart with some caffeine? Line up at Chance, they’ve got you covered. Hungry? Not only do we have street staples like Petrella’s and Sawyer’s, but there will be food trucks and tents on the street too. If you’re looking to dive right into the local artist scene and check out what’s for sale, the street is lined with booths for your enjoyment. Drop a pin to your friends or meet at the statue off of Whelpton and Drouillard.
What makes Dropped so special?
Dropped is celebrating its seventh event this August, and has grown into a full-on party that no one quite saw coming. We take our street festivals and community culture very seriously around here; this street wouldn’t be what it’s become without the perseverance and effort that so many people have put into shaping it. Dropped is special because our community makes it special. The BIA spends the year dreaming up plans for the next one, putting time, money, effort, and passion into giving back to the neighbourhood with this day.
How do I make the most out of my day at Dropped?
Many people like to check things out in the morning or early afternoon, take a breather from the excitement, and come back for the evening to wrap up the day. You can take on the day however you’d like, we support you. There’s a LOT to check out throughout the day; Dropped is more of a marathon than a sprint. Similarly, you should definitely wear some comfortable shoes for all the wandering around you’ll be doing. Blisters are bad, folks.
What kind of vendors will there be at Dropped?
We’ll have lots of familiar faces at the vendor booths this year, plus some newer ones! You can find the full vendor list on this very page, just keep scrolling.
Will the businesses on the street be open?
Yes, the storefront businesses on Drouillard look forward to this event as much as anyone. You can enjoy a sandwich at Petrella’s, stop for a coffee at Chance, browse local goods, and check out what all the other surrounding businesses are planning for the big day. Everyone’s got something for Dropped, so take your time and soak it all in.
The essentials:
We want you to enjoy Dropped in all its glory, so here’s some rapidfire information for you. Hydration is key, so we’ll have a free water station available on Whelpton just west of Drouillard. After all that hydration, surely you’ll need a bathroom. There are porta-johns spread out throughout the street, including an accessible unit. Most of the businesses and vendors accept electronic payment, but in case you need it, there are ATMs at Charron’s Convenience, Brown’s Lounge, and International Tavern. Lastly, we love to brag; tag any photos from the event with #dropped26 so we can share the fun.
